Think of the Basics

There are some basic things you need to know before you start a landscaping project. First, make sure it’s planned. Draw a basic outline of what you want.

It should include designations for gardens, paths, and structures. If you put it on the computer or tracing paper then you can make changes where necessary without drawing something new.

Additionally, write down a list of landscape products you’ll need to make the project a success. Include items like sod (new grass), flowers and plants, rocks or concrete for paths, and objects like benches gazeboes. Make sure the list also has the tools you’ll need for installation and construction.

Start Big

Start your landscape project with the biggest items on your list. Once these are in place you can work on the smaller items that surround these pieces. It prevents you from redoing certain areas due to incorrect measurements or lack of materials.
